William Norton Hill was born in Bristol in 1861.

Back then Bristol was variously referred to as being in Somerset or Gloucestershire so the county boundaries have changed over the years. William was the son of Henry Hill and Maria née Reynolds who also had two other children – Henry Reynolds 1859-1871 and Emma Maria 1862-1871.

Henry & Maria lived in Bristol all their lives, Henry was a Printer employing quite a few men & boys in most census, they died 1883 & 1885 respectively.

Son Henry Reynolds is not at home in the 1911 census and although they say that their 4 children are all still alive, I can’t find him anywhere, nor can I find a marriage or death for him in FreeBMD. Daughter Dorothy may have married in 1929 and Emily in 1935 although I’m not 100% certain about them.
