Geraldine Feodora was born in 1863 Hampstead, Middlesex to parents Henry Barry Hyde and Mary Ann née Bird.

Births Mar 1863
HYDE  Geraldine Feodore    Hampstead  1a 557

Because of the photo being taken in Liverpool I was unsure at first as to whether I had the right family until I found them in the 1871 census living in West Derby, Lancashire, up until then they had only been associated with Ireland and London.

Source Citation: Class: RG10; Piece: 3843; Folio: 118; Page: 4; GSU roll: 841925.

Geraldine’s younger sister, Mabel Mary, was born in Liverpool and I estimate Geraldine’s age in the photo to be about 3 or 4, that as well as M A being the initials of Geraldine’s mother makes me think I have the right family.

Henry Barry was a Banker on various levels in each census, he and two of the elder children were born in Ireland although mother Mary Ann was born in London as were the rest of the children except for the youngest Mabel Mary.

In 1883 Geraldine married Arthur Henry Barrett Brittain {Rev Canon} and from the following information I found in Wikisource it seems they had one son & one daughter. I was unable to find Arthur & Geraldine in any census after they were married until the 1911 when they were living in Towcester, Northamptonshire with their son Arthur Hyde Brittain aged 14. It looks like they might have been in India during those years.

Brittain, Rev Canon Arthur Henry Barrett. M. A. ; h. 1854 : 7th s. of late Rev. Charles Brittain; VI. Geraldine Feodora. d. of late Henry Barry Hyde, one s, one d; Educ: King Edward's School. Birmingham ; St. Edmund Hall, Oxford; M.A., 1879; Ordained Curate of Wolstanton, 1880 ; Founder and first head of St. Augustine Mission, Pulham ; Junior Chaplain, Madras, 1887 ; Senior Chaplain, and Canon of Madras Cathedral : Editor, Madras Diocesan Magazine, 1903-07 ; Acting Archdeacon of Madras and Bishop's Commissary ; Founder of the Diocesan Soldier's Institutes at Secunderabad and St. Thomas's Mount : Secretary of the Anglican Third Order ; Vicar of Whittlebury-cum-Silverstone, 1909. Address: Whittlebury Vicarage, Towcester.

Their daughter may be:-

Births Dec 1884
Brittain  Geraldine Hilda H    Fulham  1a 301

Geraldine Feodora Brittain died aged 72 in Bath.

Deaths Dec 1935
Brittain  Geraldine F  72  Bath

Geraldine’s mother, Mary Ann Bird, was the daughter of Golding & Mary Ann Bird, born 10 Oct 1823 in St Pancras and baptised there on 6 Nov 1823.

So interested to read about Geraldine Feodora Hyde, my great great aunt! I am descended from her elder brother Henry Barry Hyde. I don;t actually have any more on her than you have found and I also possess a copy of that photograph.
