This large vintage album once belonged to the CLIFFORD family I’ve been told, yes there are a few photos in it that have the Clifford name on them but nowhere does it say who the album actually belonged to. This album came from the South Island of New Zealand along with the HAYTER & FETHERSTONHAUGH albums. Stay tuned for further developments…..
25-6-16 – I’m now starting to think this album may have belonged to a NORMAN as there are far more Norman photos named in it than Clifford photos. I’ll probably never find out for sure so I’ve now named it the Clifford & Norman Album.
A lot of the men in the families are connected to the English Army in India and so I think these two photos may have been taken there.
1-7-16 – At last I’ve found who I think was probably the owner of this album – Lucy Jessie Norman who married William Wigram Clifford in India in 1876. Their daughter, Edith Melville Clifford, married Graham Goodenough Hayter in NZ in 1910 so that ties in both the Hayter and Clifford/Norman albums.
Just a bit more research to do then I’ll post the photos that are named. If you are reading this page first then click on ‘Home’ on the right.
These two large photos are glued into the front pages of the album, with nothing to identify who they are, if you recognise anyone please contact me. Click on photos to see a larger version.
