Today's photo is a lovely wedding group, absolutely nothing is known about it other than the photographer and that it was probably taken sometime in the 1920s to 1930s, or thereabouts.

All I can find out about the Tornquist Studio is that they operated at least between 1928 and 1934. As far as I know the Colosseum Buildings no longer exist, I've been digging deep in my memory but I don't recall where they were either.

Frederick & Herbert Tornquist appear to have operated a studio in Queen Street, Auckland from as early as 1925 until possibly as late as 1961. One of the entries in the Photographers Database on the Auckland Libraries web site has an early address, "168 Queen Street." Could this have been the location of what was later more grandly termed the Colosseum Buildings, I wonder? According to GoogleMaps:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=168+Queen+Street,+Auckland&sll=53.800651,-4.064941&sspn=11.979639,28.125&ie=UTF8&ll=-36.847852,174.766093&spn=0.001979,0.003433&z=18
there no longer appears to be a 168 Queen Street, so perhaps you are correct about it having been demolished.
Not really a blogger that ever responds to comments, unfortunately.
